i really can't tell you much about national heroes, except they made a joyous racket and seemed decidedly uncareerist in their approach, releasing cassettes on obscure tape labels, 7" singles with no tracklistings or useful info whatsoever and decidedly lo-fi production values. stylistically an obvious reference would be the stoner indie rockisms of sebadoh and guided by voices, for their playfulness as well as the sound quality. but they're also willing to try their hand at surf, country, heavy rock and indie pop. whatever takes their fancy it seems. rightly so.
this album was released by theme park in 1995 (again).
suck it up.
