third single from navigator. the b-side, "impossible without...", is i believe my favourite song of theirs - really lovely.
bares the same slightly menacing air and reverbed guitar feedback of killtaker but edges toward the (moderately) lusher sound of later releases.
navigator's debut single, displaying a relatively more traditional approach to song composition, coming across like idaho fronted by stuart staples. brooding & noisy.
and without further ado, here's volume 2. this one picks up at 1994 and ends in 2007 with the slo-core bliss-out of epic45.
google doesn't reveal much about navigator and they made few waves when they were around, but fortunately we went to university together so i took notice when they released a few singles and this one, unassuming album. over those releases they graduated from sombre but noisy slo-core to a much more minimal style, all hushed whispers and barely plucked guitars. think a blend of movietone, bark psychosis and perhaps recent uploads thela. sounds good to me.
