the cure | on rapido

i've been getting some old vhs tapes digitised recently and will duely post various bits up here. first is this interview with the cure from rapido in 1992, which is interesting chiefly for the discussion about lol tolhirst's departure - i love the way fat bob says "what, you mean the four of us and lol" and simon's "i can't believe you just said that" expression. plus at the time i was excited that robert admired the shoegazers - my own obsession at the time (one that endures).

Joe, are you gonna make it to one of the MBV gigs? Is there one down your way? I got a pair of tickets for the Glasgow gig, naively thinking they wouldn't tour North America.

Of course, as soon as I booked the flight from Toronto, they announced a gig here didn't they? And I thought about going again, but I don't want to spoil the magic that was the Glasgow gig. Was ace.

i've resigned myself to not making it since the closest is either new york or chicago. being rather apathetic about gigs lately, mainly for lack of gig companions. might pull my finger out and go and see mogwai for the umpteenth time in a couple of weeks...
