the first of a bunch of tape rips, this demo turned up on my doormat like a bolt from the blue. the accompanying scribbled note from automatic pr described it simply as "poptastic", and they weren't lying. the tape features rougher versions of "for the dead" and "left-handed", their lack of polish not diminishing the songs' charm a single jot.you can read the interview i did with martin back in the day in speeder.
interestingly (though possibly only to me), my copy is actually taped over what appears to be a demo version of "don't just disappear", a single by breathless.
