i love trans am, not so familiar with the fucking champs, but even so i was pretty excited to hear this. but er, i dunno, some of it's a bit too rock/metal for me, too unreconstructed. like the slightly dirgey opening track, "give it to you". i prefer the electronics of "the big machine" - they offer a little more inventiveness. and the acoustics of "first comes sunday morning" offers some light too. but overall i don't find myself reaching for this very often.maybe what i was looking was a trans am record.
